About Us

Alison Brebner began riding at an early age, first beginning her competitive career in horse trials in Ontario on her thoroughbred gelding Northern Touch. From there, Aliy started training with 1996 Olympic show jumping team member Chris Delia at his Chris Delia Stables in Oakville Ontario, competing her own horse as well as others in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions.

Shortly after, Aliy received her Equine Canada Coaching status and became a working student for CET member Liz Steacie, competing in the FEI Young Riders division on the Oldenburg gelding Daneel. Aliy became the Assistant Trainer and Barn Manager at Liz Steacie's Porcupine Hill Dressage, riding and competing both her own horse Halston and client horses up through the Prix St. Georges level. Aliy is now focused on developing her young horse,Don Dior by DeNiro, a lovely six year old Hanoverian mare, owned by Balmoral Investments.

Since 2007, Aliy's students have been very successful at the Gold level from Training up through the Young Rider and Prix St. Georges level, including CADORA Ontario Champions and two time CADORA Ontario Team Challenge winners as well as many Ottawa Area Dressage Group award winners.

In 2010, Aliy was the Competition Coach Specialist Demo Coach for the Equine Canada National Coaching Symposium and continues to train with top coaches as well as participating in clinics.

In 2013 and 2014, she was selected as the Shadow Chef d'Equipe for the Canada East Team for the FEI North American Junior Young Rider Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

Carney Howe

Carney Howe grew up on his family farm and from there went onto the University of Guelph where he graduated with a diploma in agriculture.

Carney is involved in all aspects of the farm from horse care to shipping and grooming at the horse shows.


Meet the Team

Meaghan Cullen- Assistant Barn Manager

Meg has been a working student at NEC since 2007. In 2009 she competed NEC Tempo Primo at Training Level at the Silver Level with many wins, finishing as Eastern Ontario Champion in the JR division and Reserve Champion in Ontario. In 2010, Meg and Tempo were CADORA Ontario JR Champions at First Level and won the Eastern Ontario JR Championship at First Level. In 2011, Meg and Tempo were OADG Cadora AA Gold Champions at second level.

In 2014, in addition to showing Halston with scores up to 74%, Meg also showed the young mare Amada as well as Sheila Trusdale's Savoir Faire at Second Level. Meg is currently competing Aliy's Halston at Third Level.

Allie Melenhorst- Working Student and Weekends

Allie and her horse Beaujolais were the OADG Cadora Gold JR Champions at Second Level in 2011 and Allie continues to work in all aspects of the farm, helping to hack, ride and care for many of the young horses and show horses.

In 2013, Allie competed at Third level with two horses.

In 2014, Allie declared for the Ontario Young Riders Team with Waterford Crystal and had great success at the Prix St Georges level. .
